The Department of Future Automotive Mobility at Seoul National University (SNU), to be established in March 2024, aims to fortify the global standing of pivotal future automotive technologies. In partnership with Hyundai Motor Group, SNU will inaugurate its inaugural contract department, aiming to award 100 master’s degrees following a comprehensive 6-year training program, which is the first employment guarantee program at SNU.
This department will bring together the expertise of 46 distinguished faculty members from four different departments within the College of Engineering. Their combined knowledge will offer students a holistic educational experience in the rapidly evolving realm of mobility. In today's dynamic landscape, the drive for progress in mobility is matched by an urgent demand for expert talent and cutting-edge technology. Our department is at the forefront of this transformation, specializing in critical domains such as autonomous driving, state-of-the-art software, and electric vehicle systems, which are the cornerstones of upcoming mobility innovations.
Furthermore, as part of our commitment to remaining at the forefront of automotive innovation, we will introduce a groundbreaking course dedicated to the intricacies of future vehicle mobility engineering. This initiative underlines our dedication to providing students with a diverse and comprehensive curriculum. In total, prospective students eager to explore the realm of future mobility will have an array of choices at their disposal. This includes a selection of 7 specialized subjects focusing on the nuances of electric vehicle systems, 10 in-depth subjects that shed light on the intricacies of electric vehicle powertrain components, 6 dedicated subjects that dive into the world of autonomous driving, and an additional 9 subjects that explore the ever-evolving domain of mobility software.
Through participating in these courses, students will not only gain theoretical knowledge but will also acquire hands-on experience, equipping them with practical skills that are essential for navigating the evolving landscape of future mobility. This immersive approach ensures that they are well-prepared to face real-world challenges and drive innovation within the rapidly advancing field of transportation.
